Friday family and friends

Saturday was my grandson, Verne’s, third birthday. My sister and her fiancé, my brother and his fiancé, my other daughter, Hannah, and my two step-sons were all able to attend the party. It was wonderful!

Hannah has just a started a new job after getting her masters in social work. She has recently moved into a new place with a roommate. We don’t get a chance to see one another very often and it was so nice to be able to be with her for the afternoon. She came dressed down and with no make up and that made it all the sweeter. I think she’s most beautiful when she looks most like herself.

Abbigail continues to improve after her cleft palate surgery last month. She is eating some solid foods now and less of the bottle. It was sweet to see them playing together with one of Verne’s new birthday toys.

It was nice to spend time with my brother and his fiancé on Sunday. My sister left mid-morning and my brother and his fiancé, Joe and I, and Joey all went for a walk to the old fort.

We got a new TV for the living room. The first movie I watched on it was The Bishop’s Wife with David Niven, Loretta Young, and Carey Grant. It was wonderful! After that I watched the first episode of the Country music documentary by Ken Burns. It was wonderful as well. I will watch the next episode next week. I don’t like to “binge watch” things on TV. I get bored.

  1. Hannah is so beautiful, and she looks just like you! I love the tablecloth. What size T.V. did you get? I actually remember “The Loretta Young Show”. She always came on in a flowy gown.

  2. How nice to have family for the little guys birthday! Did he also have one with his friends?

Congrats to your daughter on the masters degree. My youngest plans on earning an MSW once she’s done with undergrad in NH. There’s always jobs in social work!! Love the jogging pants she’s wearing.

    Happy weekend!

  3. Belated birthday wishes to Verne. Sounds like you all had a lovely celebration. Well done to your daughter. It’s a lot of work getting a masters. Enjoy your weekend – and your new TV!

  4. The photo of the little one with the cake is so adorable. Love those old movies! My husband watched the Ken Burns special and I enjoyed hearing all about it. There are so many good things on television and I just can’t commit to a lot, but that is one that I kind of wish I had seen.

  5. Happy Third Birthday to Verne! We celebrated PAL’s fifth birthday the same day 🙂
We’ve been watching the Country Music special by Ken Burns, too. We just finished episode five this evening.
I love your photos–especially the one of Hannah.
    Have a great weekend!
